It Really is Free!
Tilf is offering schools a free trial to get their mock papers marked.
It won’t just mark the mocks, it will give your students precise feedback on how to improve.
And then it will write a report outlining the strengths, weaknesses and next steps for your class or cohort.
Is it Accurate?
Research into the accuracy of examiners at GCSE shows this for English language and literature: the examiner and the senior examiner agree on the same grade only 50% of the time. (Not the same mark - the same grade!)
So, in that respect, Tilf is more accurate than an examiner.
But, the AI is still developing. For some answers it can be more than 1 grade out. So, would I use Tilf?
100% yes.
How I Would Use Tilf
Ask teachers put in their mark book the grade they think the student will get in the mock.
Put all the answers in a batch (scanning them is easy if students have answered on separate pieces of paper). Send it to Tilf.
Give students all the feedback on what went well and what to improve. This will be excellent and reliable.
Remark any answer which is more than one grade different from your prediction. Give it the grade you think it deserves.
This means that your students will get their feedback on how to improve as soon as you want them to.
They will get their marks in the time it takes you to mark, at most, 20% of your cohort, where the prediction and the grade are surprises. That’s a much quicker turnaround.
Reteach the concepts Tilf tells you are a significant weakness for your cohort.
Get students to rewrite, edit or try again one of the exam questions, using the feedback.
Put that into Tilf and get it to mark those too!
